We have been working  to complete our fund raising for the new Sim Iness / Bob Mathias public mural for completion in 2008.  We have a fundraising goal of $15,000 to put this mural on the wall of the Tulare Chamber of Commerce, 220 E. Tulare Ave.

This mural will celebrate the phenominal success of both Sim Iness and Bob Mathias, olympic gold medalists from the city of Tulare.  Sim Iness competed in the 1952 Olympics in the discus throw where he won the gold medal and later set the discus world record in 1953, being the first man to throw over 190 feet.  Bob Mathias competed in both the 1948 and 1952 Olympics where he took a gold medal in the decathalon both times.  Bob went on to star in a movie about his life and became a local Congressman for the Tulare community.  He later became the first director of the United States Training Center in Colorado.  Though both men have passed on, they are vividly remembered in Tulare for their great achievements.

Please help us financially make this mural possible with your tax deductible contributions.
